CORDIO started as three distinct subregions in East Africa, the Indian Ocean Islands and South Asia, with coordination centers in Mombasa (Kenya), Victoria (Seychelles) and Columbo (Sri Lanka). Over time the networks of researchers and managers have integrated across the Indian Ocean (see 'regions page').
